Home to over 300 rescued farm animals- including cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits and a very silly llama- the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary provides rescued farmed animal residents lifelong care and sanctuary. This nonprofit organization strives to connect animals with people to advocate veganism, animal rights and aims to reduce suffering for all.

Visitors can meet the furry and feathered residents from the first full weekend of April through the last full weekend of October. Hour-long guided tours are available where guests are able to get up close with the animals and learn more about the sanctuary, along with the cruel realities of the farming industry.
Recently, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary hosted Winter At Woodstock- a day which allows visitors to tour the farm during the wintertime. We had the privilege of taking a tour with Executive Director, Rachel McCrystal.
Guests had the opportunity to pet and feed the animals, while learning about their rescue stories- like of how some of these brave creatures escaped slaughter.

According to the Humane Society of The United States, around 9 billion land animals each year are killed in the U.S. alone. Over the past 50 years, animal agriculture has evolved from small, family farms to large corporate factory farming systems. Modern agribusiness corporations are built upon the cutthroat attitude of increasing profit margins at all costs – which has had devastating consequences for the animals in their care.
Agricultural livestock farming impacts climate change by contributing to deforestation and added more greenhouse gasses. In fact, farming is responsible for the equivalent of 574 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States each year.
The friends you meet here live a long and happy life. They teach how to have love and compassion for all living things.
